Rectangular Toast Baking Tin
This is a one-piece rectangular loaf tin for pound cake, small toast, and similar batters. The body is carbon steel with a champagne-gold non-stick coating. There is no lid. The corners are rounded, which makes it easier to line the tin and to turn the cake out after baking.
Carbon steel heats quickly and keeps a steady temperature in a home oven. The coating is there so you can use a light layer of butter or a strip of parchment instead of heavy greasing. The rim is wide enough to hold when you move the tin in and out of the oven. Because the tin is open-top, the cake or loaf can rise freely and brown on the surface.
Three lengths share the same width and depth:
- Small: 19.5 × 9.5 × 5 cm
- Medium: 23.5 × 9.5 × 5 cm
- Large: 27.5 × 9.5 × 5 cm
Depth is about 5 cm and width about 9.5 cm on all three. Only the length changes. The small tin suits a short loaf or a trial batch. The medium tin is a common home size. The large tin is better when you need more slices from one bake. The three sizes can be stacked when empty.
Fill the tin no more than about two-thirds full so the batter has room to rise. A light coat of fat or a fitted piece of parchment is still useful, even with a non-stick surface, especially for high-sugar cakes. Let the bake sit in the tin for a few minutes before turning it out, so the structure can set.
Wash by hand with a soft cloth. Do not cut food inside the tin. Do not put a hot tin into cold water. Dry it completely to limit rust on any exposed steel edges. Store dry, stacked with a cloth between tins if you own more than one size.
This listing is for one tin in the size you select.
